Out of hibernation, on the road to Manchester

First of all my apologies, it’s been the longest ever run without an update! There are two reasons; one is that this exam-crazy time of year has created lots of parents wanting tuition for their kids, and I’ve been playing the role of maths tutor far more than cardplayer.

The other is that the latest poker plan came tumbling down with the worst possible timing. I fell ill just before the Irish Open weekend, and felt like a child being told Christmas was cancelled. Having travelled to a few random places all on my own over the Winter months, I was really looking forward to the rare chance to go with my brother Tom and the English poker crew. Sadly, I had to cancel, and so it’s been an unexpected long break from live tournaments.

That will be broken, however, on Friday as my favorite poker tour returns. The next leg of the GUKPT is in Manchester, and I’m really looking forward to travelling up on Friday to resume friendships and rivalries alike. After that, it’s the big one, Monte Carlo. Time to start playing good!

Where do I start my story?

Well who am I?

My real name is Saif. I’d like to keep my surname private until I am a full time pro or have achieved success in something really worthwhile. I’m in my late 20s and I live in London. I think I have played on 32Red for over 2 years and am proud to have played in 32Red colours at the WPT Boot Camp.  My Poker highlights so far are winning Aston Villa tickets on 2 occasions from 32Red. I enjoy these sorts of prizes as money can’t buy them

As a small stakes (50nl/100nl) online player I have never played any tournament with a buy-in bigger than 50 euro. So playing the Belgian Open Championships was a fantastic challenge to me and a great opportunity to gain some experience playing the real deal. After all, competing in big tournaments is what almost any poker player dreams of doing. So hopefully, obtaining a seat through a freeroll satellite on 32Red Poker for the Belgian Open Championships is the beginning of a long poker career.
