NOW..! some of you posted some interesting feedback on last week’s BtB blog as well as during the game, so I would like to discuss the below suggestions before making any changes:

  • Start the tournament earlier (21:00, 20:30, 20:00 UK?)
  • Unlimited (or more than 2) rebuys
  • 10-player tables
  • 10 places paid

I am happy to make reasonable changes or amendments, as long as most are in agreement, so please feel free to post your suggestions, ideas and thoughts.  Each week, one lucky blog poster will receive a free ticket to Saturday’s BtB game.

Thanks once again for playing, and let me take this opportunity to wish you all the best in 2010.

Hi every1 congrates to all winners ;-) i think you should get more then 8 paid places when tourney is getting this big. under 10% is not enough i think, and its not becouse i was bubbleboy!!! promise :-)

  2. _FEAR_ME_ says:

    yes more than 8 paid
10 fair and 10 seater tables and more than 2 rebuys make it unlimited to incraese the payout and can we have the add on at the end of hour not hour and half .next may we have somthing in the week on tuesday like a rebuy with somthing added theres nothing to play in the week and i think that this would be a very good idea .instead of lottery.lottery.lottery

Hi guys, I was very happy to win my favourite online tournament. I regret that my chat was disabled long long ago during my freeroll period :) and wasn’t able to congratulate the other players and write my suggestions to Nick regarding BtB tournament. I will try to write them down.
    – The tournament starts a little bit late (Here in Bulgaria it is GMT+2). As long as BtB is on Saturdays it is not a big problem.
    – I prefer freezeouts and I think that many players can not afford to pay the buy in, a couple of rebuys and addon. Big cash players have their loyalty rewards – Cash Stampede, top 32club, Wise guys and the unlimited rebuys will be in their favour too.
    – I would like the prize pool to be devided into 2 BtBs – e.g. 1 freezeout and one rebuy tournament.
    – I like 8-player tables and don’t want a change here.
    – If there are more than 100 players I think it would be better to pay final 2 tables or last 10 players rather than 8 players.

Good luck to all, see you soon at the tables :)

Thanks everyone for your feedback – keep ‘em coming!

g_m_more, your chat facility has now been enabled, I trust you’ll us it wisely in future :)

    Hi All,
I find myself in agreement with 3g_m_more pretty much albeit I wouldn’t want to see the BtB divided. If the prizes went to ten players I assume the final table would be ten strong but like 3g, I prefer the 8 player format.
I guess that rebuys and add-ons are necessary to increase the prize money; that said, they encourage loose play and the immediate prospect of elimination is lost. As things are, it is the bounties themselves who decide if they wish to be eliminated during the first 90 minutes. As the tourney runs to four hours now (if yer lucky) an earlier start time would help those of us in receipt of Winter Fuel Allowance.
    Still enjoying it. Regards,
    Malcolm

Ok I think it’s fair to assume that most are in favour an earlier starting time, so we’ll make that 20:30 UK and see how it goes.

10 places paid seems to be in fashion so we’ll change that too, but we’ll leave the 8-seater tables.

We shall revert back to 5 minute breaks after each hour, and leave 2x optional rebuys for 90 minutes + addon.

I like the idea of splitting the prize pool to allow 2 BtB’s a week, any more feedback on this?

  7. _FEAR_ME_ says:

yes split it sounds a very good idea to me

If we want as many re-buys and addons as possible to increase the prize pool then I believe the 90 min first stage stops this from happening.

For example after 90 mins usually around only 35 players are left from a field of around 70 or so, so how can we maximise the amount of addons and re-buys with half or over half the field eliminated?

My idea was to have an addon of 5k or 10K chips, so people will hang on for the addon coz of the value of a large addon, I understand the micro client doesnt allow for this to happen from a technical point of view….

So to maximise the re-buy and addons I would say go back to 1 hour and not 90 mins and surely there would be at least more addon’s as 75% of players or thereabouts should still be in I would think….

Earlier start time much better so we can have a better structured tournament, with that in mind I would like to see 15 min blinds as again this will give much better value for an addon as blinds will be much lower for a 2000 starting stack, currently at the end of 90mins blinds are 200/400 so anyone short stacked may not see much value in an addon for 2000 chips when 2 orbits will take more than half the addon.

You cant please everyone, the gamblers will want a fast loose format and the poker players a slower tighter format…

I am trying to base my views for the good of the long term success of the tournament and not only my personal views or wants / wishes….

There is a balance possible I believe that will suit most, if we keep communicating we may find the holy grail, then who knows how big and greater still the tournament can become than it already is?

  9. jamesp362000 says:

BTW I based my idea of a 5 or 10k addon from a bounty game on another site, they had 4 x more entries than normal and 90% of the field stuck around for the addon at the end of the first hour….

Perhaps a split of prizepool to allow 2 games a week might work, what about making one of them omaha?

  10. malcbrockman says:

I would like to see two competitions again although the prize money on Saturdays is attractive! You can’t please all the people all of the time but it is nice to see views being listened to and acted upon.

    That’s what we’re here for Malcolm :)

I think it would help if we all use the Refer-a-Friend (Menu > Refer a Friend) promotion and send a personal message to your friends about our BtB tournament – it may attract some more entrants and help us (me) continue to increase the guarantee!

  12. BadWolfOne says:

thank you for the earlier start and for the 10 player payout , these were 2 of my biggest wishes :)

about the spliting of the tournament, i think one 2.6k tournaments is much more attractive than two 1.3k

15 minute blinds would be nice , but i think the blind structure has to be rethinked (if posible, the entire macromedia network has a similar structure, compared to other networks that have aditional levels)

about the addon i think it is useles after 90 minutes, same reason as jamessp, surprizingly i seen a similar situation in a live tournament i played recently (low buy-in, country just beggining to imbrace poker) , after 2 hours (only 4 eliminated out of 40! rebuys), a addon was only 10 blinds :| , same for a double rebuy , so paying another 3 buy-ins would of gave you 20 blinds :| (it was a qualifier , the prize was about 10 buy-ins)

  13. Nick says:

Thanks BadWoldOne, would this be more practical?

    2500 starting chips
    15 minute blinds
    90 minute rebuys

  14. BadWolfOne says:

    2500 starting chips
    15 minute blinds
    90 minute rebuys

yes , i think this change will help alot
after the 90 minuts the blinds would be 150/300 leaving some play for the ones that rebuyed near the end or addoned, and quite a lot of play for the highstackes , compared with the 12 minute 2000 chip sistem where after 90 minutes the blind would be about 200/400 or 300/600 , just 3-4 blinds for a rebuy/addon

one more thing i would like to add, i saw it has been a discussion about the number of players at the tables , i love the current 8 player format :) , a 10 player tournament would be just like any other tournament out there

  15. jamesp362000 says:

    2500 starting chips
    15 minute blinds
    90 minute rebuys

Fine apart from the 90 min rebuy period I would say, 60 min would be better and more of the field will be there to have a potential addon…..

Peharps allow for 3 or 5 x rebuys? as I assume at some point we will need more players rebuying / adding on or a bigger field so we can keep increasing the prize pool…..

  16. jamesp362000 says:

    Hi Nick,

Perhaps an email should be sent to everyone to inform them of the changes and especially the new start time as that may catch a lot of people out who have got used of the old start time over the years…..

  17. Nick says:

Thanks James, for your valuable feedback and suggestions – let’s get this tournament spot-on first before informing the crowds :)

Point taken about the 60 min rebuys, will see how the 90 mins goes tomorrow and take it from there…

  18. jamesp362000 says:

    Your welcome Nick, np,

When I looked the start time for tomorrow had changed to the earlier time, don’t you want to email players about that?

  19. BadWolfOne says:

I agree with james about the 60 minute rebuys , he allready said everything there is to say about this and he has a good point , better for the players , better for the site

  20. Nick says:

Congratulations Jamesp362000, you’ve won this week’s free BtB Blog ticket, good luck!

  21. jamesp362000 says:

    Many Thanks Nick…..
