World Record EPT won by Pieter de Korver
Dutch poker professional, Pieter de Korver, has won the final leg of the European Poker Tour Season 5. Pieter outlasted over 900 players to take the Grand Final title in Monte Carlo last weekend. The field was a record for a poker tournament outside of Las Vegas as it generated almost €10 million in prize money.
De Korver won €2.3 million for his sensation victory. The Dutchman was down to just two big blinds on the final table at one stage but embarked on a remarkable series of double ups to take the chip lead. A position he was to retain from then on.
Also in Monte Carlo; Vanessa Rousso won the heads up title for a very tasty looking €720,000. It appears the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition babe continues her red hot form both on and off the poker tables!
Cyclona Lawsuit Blown Out
A Las Vegas court dismissed a lawsuit by poker professional Cyclona ‘Clonie’ Gowen yesterday. Gowen was claiming 1% ownership of online poker operators Tiltware LLC, the parent company of one of the major poker players in the industry.
The popular female professional appeared to have a weak case from the outset, citing a verbal agreement with fellow pro’ Howard Lederer as her main evidence in the case.
Sit n Go World Record Broken
French poker player Bertrand Grospellier, also known as ElkY, has broken the world record for the number of sit n go tournaments played in an hour. ElkY produced a master class of multi-table poker action as he took on 62 sit n go tournaments in front of a live audience at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo!
When the dust settled, ElkY, who has won over $1.5 million dollars in live poker tournaments so far this year, walked away with a $23.67 profit. Perhaps not the most he’s earned when playing poker for an hour!
