A good run into Day Two at Star City
Just a quick one,as I’m dying to get some sleep before another early start tomorrow. I’ve got into day two at the £500 tournament at Star City, and will go back with 50,875. I’m really buzzing for tomorrow, as I feel like things have come togethter, and I played OK today. It’s a case in point though, that there are still a number of things that I could/should have got better, and I will write about these soon.
The highlight of the pots was when I was playing 23k, and with blinds of 1k/2k, had 43o against Mickey Wernick in the big blind. We checked a QQ6 flop, and he checked the 6 turn to me, which double paired the board. Mickey checked, and I was faced with a re-raise to 7k after I bluffed 2k. I made the floating call, leaving myself with just 12k. I felt pretty sure Mickey had very little, but was praying not only that I was right, but that he would not bluff the river! Luckily he did not, and I got away with my small 7k bet after an agonising moment where he seemed to be pondering the call.
We’re back with 50 runners tomorrow, with an average stack of 42,000. I’ll keep you updated!
