The week ahead- a chance to set the TV record straight

I’m really excited about the week ahead, as Thursday brings a big day with my heat of the UK Poker Open, which will be shown on TV.

It’s my second shot at one of these TV tournaments, and I found out last time that the excitement is evened out by the disappointment of the shocking structure they have. For what is a £3000 buy-in event, there really should be a better structure than that offered by a 50 big-blind starting stack.  I’ll be hoping to do better than last time, when an unexciting first two hours saw me sitting with the starting stack, but almost comically just 8 big blinds.

The structure did not help, but if the truth be told, it was a bit of a lame effort that day, as I wimped out in third. I’m buzzing about this week, and the chance to put on a better show. My heat unfortunately includes Roland De Wolfe, the only English player that can truly be described as world class. Hopefully one of the z-list celebrities can score an early fluke against him, and open up an easier path through to the semis!
